These sea vegetables come from the waters of Japan and the MUSO Company gives its personal guarantee to the cleanliness of the water and the quality of the vegetables.

A Japanese staple, sea vegetables are high in protein, rich in minerals (especially high in calcium, iron, zinc, and iodine), and contain vitamins A, C and B complex. Studies have shown that sea vegetables contain a remarkable spectrum of components valuable for human health and have powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and immuno-suppressive properties. Small amounts aid healthy hair, nails, bones and teeth and can help with metabolism.

• Wakame is an annual sea vegetable, which grows on rocks as deep as 3-10 metres in the sea around the coast of Japan. It is dark green in colour and its average length is 1-2 metres. The gathering season starts from February and peaks in May. Wakame is dried under the sun to retain its nutritional value as well as its original Wakame flavour. The most common way of cooking Wakame is in miso soup, where it adds an extra dimension to the miso soup flavour. It is the best natural food product for people with high blood pressure because it contains a rich amount of alginic acid.
• Arame is the dark, stringy sea vegetable that grows abundantly in the Sea of Japan and is harvested by hand during the summer months. With a mild flavour and aroma, it is rich in iron and calcium. It is also said to make skin smoother. Arame is used as a side dish for seasonal seafood and steamed dishes.
